Christmas and cow tongue

Hello family! I loved being able to talk to you guys on Christmas. It's different not being at home, but this Christmas was really special. Christmas eve is when Germans usually celebrate Christmas. This is when the christkind comes and delivers there presents. The room where the Christmas tree is off limits for the whole day and then after dinner a bell will ring from that room. Which means that the presents have been delivered and they're able to open them. We went over to the Hadzik's for dinner. The dad, Thorsten, helps us with our lessons with falko. They are the sweetest people and they remind me a lot of our family. They're always inviting us over and helping us with our lessons. But we had a very traditional Christmas dinner with help. Which consisted of rot kohl (pickled cabbage), karotffel Krause (potatoes mixed with bread made into a ball. Kind of like stuffing), and rolaten (rolled up beef with gravy). It was all super good. Then we had a little musical ta...

Frohe Weihnachten

Image
Guten Morgen meine familie! This week has flown by. Taking over Nürnberg has been really fun. On Saturday we played Frisbee with some non members. The ground was muddy so we were sliding all over the place, but it was really fun. Of course with me being a Nielsen I got pretty competitive. There was this one time there was a pass going to Sister Barden and I tried to deflect it. I hit the Frisbee out of the way but also ran into Sister Barden. The Frisbee also hit me in the face when it came back down. So I have a slight bruise under my eye. Then when I was receiving a pass an elder bumped the Frisbee so I kept going for it since it was still in play. We just kept bobbling it until it fell to the ground. In this process I hit the elder in the eye and made his contact fall out.... looks like we might have to limit how competitively I play. Everyone there was surprised a little girl like me would get into it so much.  We have 2 apartments now due to the fact that we're over Feu...

1 Transfer Down

Image
Hallo Familie!! This week was pretty slow. We had a lot of lessons fall through. So we were left to do a lot of social media work and finding little service opportunities. We had a shorter transfer so that the ones going home will get there before Christmas, instead of a week after. So this transfer was 4 weeks instead of 6. We're still in Feucht but we're also taking over Nürnberg as well. Nürnberg is a pretty big city so there's a lot of work to do. They have 6 missionaries in Nürnberg. Last Sunday they had 17 friends of the church there! That's insane! Sister Barden and I are excited for this change. There's not a whole ton we can do in Feucht so we're excited to add Nürnberg. I think I'll finally be able to experience the busy missionary life. There's a lot of YSA here so it'll be a lot of fun for me. They also have a group that plays Frisbee every Saturday so I'm excited to run around a little bit haha.  On Saturday we went over to visit and...

God is real

Image
Just wanted to hop on here and say that God is real. Last week when we were on our way to the Christmas markets I looked down while we were on a little Bahn. I noticed my tag that I hang on the outside of my jacket was gone. I was pretty distressed, I thought It might've fell off somewhere along the way. When we were heading back to our train I tried to look around and see if I dropped it anywhere. To no avail. I still had hope that some nice person in our apartment complex might've found it and put in on our door step..  nope. Well maybe it never left the house... nope. I was pretty upset that I had lost something so precious to me. I couldn't even imagine someone finding it in the train station and disrespecting it. Well when I went to grab my journal from my bag, my tag was sitting perfectly on all of my stuff. I couldn't believe it, I had only opened my bag once the whole day. And I was grabbing my wallet from out of it multiple times... I shouldn't felt it. I...

3rd week in Deutschland

Image
Hallo Familie!! This week we were still focusing on meeting with members. We were pretty busy from running from place to place. We got the chance to visit and talk to really fun and cool members. Everyone is super nice and love to send us home with sweets. 1 less active couple even sent us home with a whole cake. It doesn't help that the food is great and there are bakeries everywhere. The weight is gonna come, ya'll might have to roll me off the airplane haha. I'm understanding more I feel like, but that's still only 50% of the time. Sometimes I understand a lot and then other times im lucky if I even know the category that were talking about. The language has been a real struggle for me. I've realized that I'm not very patient with myself. I want so badly to be fluent and understand people, but that's not the way it goes. I'm supposed to struggle and its been hard. I've been reading my patriarchal blessing a lot and I love how much it emphasizes ...
