Frohe Weihnachten
Guten Morgen meine familie!
This week has flown by. Taking over Nürnberg has been really fun. On Saturday we played Frisbee with some non members. The ground was muddy so we were sliding all over the place, but it was really fun. Of course with me being a Nielsen I got pretty competitive. There was this one time there was a pass going to Sister Barden and I tried to deflect it. I hit the Frisbee out of the way but also ran into Sister Barden. The Frisbee also hit me in the face when it came back down. So I have a slight bruise under my eye. Then when I was receiving a pass an elder bumped the Frisbee so I kept going for it since it was still in play. We just kept bobbling it until it fell to the ground. In this process I hit the elder in the eye and made his contact fall out.... looks like we might have to limit how competitively I play. Everyone there was surprised a little girl like me would get into it so much.
We have 2 apartments now due to the fact that we're over Feucht and Nürnberg. It's been a bit hard juggling groceries, but thankfully the members are all really nice and have packed up our schedules. Feucht is still my favorite and I was so happy when we went back to stay the night. It felt like home.
On Sunday we were in Nürnberg and the members were all super nice. With Christmas coming up this week they all brought a whole bunch of chocolate and candies for the missionaries. It was SO much. There was no way Sister Barden and I could eat all of it so we used it to street contact. We would just hand out chocolate and cookies to people on the street with our card. It has been super easy and it makes people light up which is fun to see. I've also been working this week with talking a lot more. You guys know how quiet I am and how hard it is for me to speak and talk to people. But I've been reading A Consecrated Missionary and have realized that I just need to lay my fears upon the altar and talk to everyone. Dad you're such a great example of talking to everyone and I appreciate it a lot. So that's what I've been focusing on and it's been a lot of fun. It's still scary but it's been getting a lot easier. With Christmas coming up its been an easy topic. After it might not be so easy to keep the conversation normal and natural.
Funny story is that when we were doing split contacting on the Zug. I get on with this man who looked really nice. He looked at my Tag and asked where my companion was. In the moment I'm terrible and realizing what people say to me until way late in the conversation. I thought he was meaning was I a missionary. So I responded yes and asked if he was religious. He was a member of the Nürnberg ward that I met that Sunday. Then he asked me again why I was alone and I didn't know what he was saying until after. So all in all, I tried street contacting a member that I had already met and he thought I was lost.... so embarrassing.
Today for pday we went to coburg. So I got to see Sister Brown! It was great to see her again and go visit the castle that's here. I'm always amazed that people used to live in the medieval times. Then we got coburgers which I'll be sure to send you a picture of when I get them. They're like a bratwurst but the sausage is really long. We then went to the church and played volleyball. Everyone is so surprised how much I use my feet and it's hilarious to me. It's a reflex and the sad thing is that they're more accurate than my hands.
Our Christmas days are packed and I'm very excited to be apart of the German traditions. We have lots of appointments so our calendar is set. I hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas, I know you guys will have so much fun together. Please don't ball up too hard without me 🙃Being a missionary around Christmas time has been so fun. I've loved being able to serve people and talk about Christ. He is my Lord and Savior and I'm so glad I have this opportunity to serve him. He's helped me so much during the 3 months that I've been out. He's guided me to who I should speak to and helped me to open my mouth. I'm so thankful for him everyday and the love that he fills me with. Hope you have a blessed day and fantastic Christmas!
Much love,
Sister Nielsen 💕
