Welcome to the jungle

Hola!  I'm pretty confident that I am serving in South America. I swear that the only people we talk to speak only Spanish. We had an appointment with a family from Venezuela who's in our ward. They invited one of their friends who's from the Dominican Republic. Their German is not that good so most of the conversation was in Spanish. Schwester Fuchs was made us Venezuelan food and it was so good! After lunch we sat down and talked about the book of Mormon and the church... or at least we wanted to. Since we aren't fluent in Spanish yet. The Spanish members took over and explained a whole bunch of principles for a full hour! I was surprised with how much I could follow the conversation. The gift of tongues is real, even if it's not your mission language! It does feel like I'm back in training but in another continent. What's most important is that the friend wants to learn more! So looks like half of my language study needs to consist of Spanish.  The rest...

Power of the spirit

Morchen!! This week was lots on the road! We went up to Wetzlar to join their district counsel. It was a lot of fun and we talked to sooo many people. The people there were also super nice and friendly. I talked to this old man and then he started giving me homework. It was simple 2nd grade math but German + the mission veil, it was quite difficult. We also went to Ikea for lunch and it was my first time. Before I didn't understand why ikea got so much hype, but now I understand. The Swedish meatballs weren't as good as yours mom, don't worry;) Then we went down to Wiesbaden, its the cutest town ever. It has so many old buildings and the parks are beautiful. We walked past this tree full of parakeets, like what? Just normal, tiny parrots flying around in the middle of the city. It was pretty cool. I went on an Austauch with sister Clark and learned sooo much. We have incredible sisters here in this mission. We clicked so easily and opened up real quick haha. She helped me...

Fluent in Spanish

This week I went on my first Austausch as an STL and to be quite honest, I was nervous. Poor Sister Kisby was my trial and error. I hope it went well and that it wasn't completely boring for her. We had a lot of lessons fall through so that meant time to study by the temple, call members, and go street contacting! We had some good talks with people. We talked to this precious old lady who just melted my little heart. She wasn't really religious at all and had lots of challenges in life, but we were able to tell her that God loved her and that he knew her. Although it wasn't the typical conversation we get from people, I think it was exactly what she needed to hear and the whole time I just felt so much love for her. We rewarded ourselves by having the legit best ice cream that I've had in germany! The ice cream in germany is sooo good, but this place blew all the others out of the water. We had a great meal with a member, who told us that the Queen of ...

Servus!!  This week has flown by! I can't believe that it's already Thursday again. I've met a ton of amazing people this week. Friedrichsdorf is amazing and I'm happy to be serving here.  This week was mostly spent on the streets talking to people. I have yet to meet any of our friends of the church here so we were on the hunt to find ones who would actually want to meet with us. We've seen some great miracles on the street. We ran into one lady who only speaks Spanish and I've forgotten all of the little Spanish that I knew. But I was able to whip out "soy misionera de la iglesia de jesucristo de los santos de los ultimos dias." Not to worry, we called a Spanish elder and he was able to talk to her about church and the Book of Mormon! We also went out on the street with a member which is always powerful. We talked to this girl from Ukraine who was super nice. We were able to get her number and will be seeing her again!  Sunday was incredible. We ar...

Goodbyes are hard

Moin!  Well transfer news has come in and..... I'm in Friedrichsdorf! It's close to Frankfurt and where the temple is. I walk by the temple everyday, it's been so nice. I really traded a cathedral for a temple. I'm also an STL (Sister training leader) so that's been pretty stressful. I'm hoping I'll be able to relate well to the sisters and be able to help and support them. There's a lot of fear and doubt that come with a new area and especially a leadership position. But I'm trying to be positive and remember that whoever the lord calls he qualifies. And boy will I be relying on him a ton this transfer.  It's beautiful here in Friedrichsdorf. The other day we ran through fields of freshly chopped hay and it smelled like horses. It felt like I was back in Idaho or ruby valley. We share 2 wards with the elders here and they have so many activities! Every week they have FHE, then they play volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I'm going to real...
