Goodbyes are hard
Moin!
Well transfer news has come in and..... I'm in Friedrichsdorf! It's close to Frankfurt and where the temple is. I walk by the temple everyday, it's been so nice. I really traded a cathedral for a temple. I'm also an STL (Sister training leader) so that's been pretty stressful. I'm hoping I'll be able to relate well to the sisters and be able to help and support them. There's a lot of fear and doubt that come with a new area and especially a leadership position. But I'm trying to be positive and remember that whoever the lord calls he qualifies. And boy will I be relying on him a ton this transfer.
It's beautiful here in Friedrichsdorf. The other day we ran through fields of freshly chopped hay and it smelled like horses. It felt like I was back in Idaho or ruby valley. We share 2 wards with the elders here and they have so many activities! Every week they have FHE, then they play volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I'm going to really enjoy having all these opportunities to get out and play. I met a few of the ward members at volleyball and boy was I rusty. But it's alright we'll get back into it.
It was really hard to leave Köln, but I can confidently say that I left it better than I found it. We saw so many miracles in that area. I think the biggest one that we saw was with the ward. When I left they were so excited about missionary work and were willing to help us. My last Sunday was absolutely amazing. I got to give my leaving testimony which is always sad. Our friend Patrick came to church, which he is a miracle. He reached out to me on facebook and asked if I was religious. We were able to meet with him after a couple weeks and the lesson didn't go how I wanted it. I thought it was a complete flop. He doesn't have any religious background which was hard, women and the priesthood got brought up, and I slaughtered my German. I was worried at the end of our lesson that we lost him. But we invited him to church and he gladly came. The members were amazing and introduced themselves to him and others before we could even say hello. He kept telling the members that he would see them next week. After the meeting he even came up to me to ask for a book of Mormon. He's so awesome and it testified to me that if the person is ready, it really doesn't matter what you say to them. The spirit will still testify and pierce their hearts.
Later that day we met with Henry just to reset expectations. We talked about the book of Mormon and he shared his testimony about it with us. It was so cool to learn that the book of Mormon just adds to what he already knows from the Bible. It just goes deeper. It was so cool to learn how much he enjoys reading the book of Mormon. Then we met with jordi, he's been struggling with his testimony for a long time. But he joined us to watch the leavers testimony meeting and he really enjoyed it. He would share his thoughts about the missionaries testimonies and it was really cool to finally hear his testimony after so long!!
Apparently I didn't leave Köln quick enough before all our friends confessed their love for me and I received a wedding proposal. That was hard and am glad to be leaving that. But don't worry family, it's just giving me many opportunities to say no.
It's been a great, hectic week. I love you all so much and am excited but nervous for this new adventure. I know the lord is with me and will be strengthening my weaknesses if I turn to him in humility (Ether 12:27). Have a great week!!
