Power of the spirit
Morchen!!
This week was lots on the road! We went up to Wetzlar to join their district counsel. It was a lot of fun and we talked to sooo many people. The people there were also super nice and friendly. I talked to this old man and then he started giving me homework. It was simple 2nd grade math but German + the mission veil, it was quite difficult. We also went to Ikea for lunch and it was my first time. Before I didn't understand why ikea got so much hype, but now I understand. The Swedish meatballs weren't as good as yours mom, don't worry;)
Then we went down to Wiesbaden, its the cutest town ever. It has so many old buildings and the parks are beautiful. We walked past this tree full of parakeets, like what? Just normal, tiny parrots flying around in the middle of the city. It was pretty cool. I went on an Austauch with sister Clark and learned sooo much. We have incredible sisters here in this mission. We clicked so easily and opened up real quick haha. She helped me a lot with communication and how to effectively talk to others. As well as how to get my thoughts across. Sister Clark is also the most charitable person I know, she cares so much about others. We almost got to go on base but I sadly forgot my passport... But the member we were with was nice enough and got us American food anyways. I had my first Popeyes! Then we helped this lady move. She has a super tall house with lots of weird, sketchy angled stairs. But sister Clark and I got to work just hauling stuff down. We brought down a ton of the furniture: couch, book case, dressers, you name it. I'm expecting to be jacked after that. It was a ton of fun and felt so good to help others out. I forgot how enjoyable service is. I've only done an echt service project twice during my whole mission.
Yesterday was such a spiritual day. I don't know what it was but I just felt so at peace and so full. We had a great district counsel in Wiesbaden and I'm inspired by all of them and the work that they're doing. We were in charge of giving the Thema (lesson) and it just went so smoothly. I think it was the first time this transfer when I felt truly united in my teaching. I love Sister Hodgman but we see some things differently. But the lesson came together so well and we were able to really support each other. It felt so good and I could feel the spirit during our teaching. I love the spirit and the feeling it leaves me with. I just feel so enlightened and so motivated to do the work of the lord. Not even a guy cussing at me for believing in Christ could bring the smile of my face.
Later that night we had a lesson with Yina. We had translators there and it went so well. She had so many questions about 3 Nephi 11, especially about the baptism. We talked about the baptism and the holy ghost with her and asked if it's something she would want to work towards. She agreed and we were able to set a baptismal date with her! It was so awesome and definitely not what we were planning when we went into the lesson. She's praying about the 22nd of October and also if everything we've told her about the book of Mormon and the church were true. As we ended the lesson we invited her to say the prayer. We taught her how to pray and she went for it. Although I didn't understand the prayer, I could truly feel the spirit. During her prayer she asked if the book of Mormon was true and she started to break down. The senior couple that translated for us were able to explain to her that what she felt was the spirit testifying to her. It was honestly so powerful and such a beautiful prayer. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. It reminded me exactly of what it was like when Whitney B. Said her first prayer in our home. It taught me how personal and powerfully the spirit speaks to us. He really does prick us right in our hearts. The spirit works miracles and can still testify and edify people miles away. She's just so ready and I'm so grateful for her and her willingness!
It has been a powerful week and it's only Wednesday! I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary! I love the mission and I love this gospel! I have never done anything so fulfilling in my life than helping others come closer to Jesus Christ. I know that God lives and I know that his arms are open waiting for us to come unto him. I love you all so much! Thanks for all the support that you give me!!
