The miracle of fasting
Hallochen!
Falko! So this past week we fasted for Falko that he would have the desire to be baptized. That's the next step for him. After our lesson and we invited him to fast as well, he said "I will fast but I don't know if God wants me to be baptized yet." We were still hopeful that he'd come around. The next day he kept asking us who would baptize him and how everything would work. We asked if he made his decision and he said yes! He got his baptismal Interview. He wanted to get baptized last weekend with a little girl who was getting baptized, but it didn't work out. So he's set to get baptized on Saturday!
His journey: he was found in june through street contacting. He went to church a couple times but then fell out of communication with the elders. Then the elders right before Sister Barden and I, started teaching him. They left a note for us saying that his heart needed to be softened. When we got here, it seemed that he was really open and his heart was ready. We started teaching him every week and at first it was a little hard since his microphone didn't really work and he talks really quietly. But once we got that figured out it was smooth sailing. He would always ask us what he could and couldn't drink to make sure he didn't "break the rules." His faith is so amazing to me. He's a scriptorian and loves the book of Mormon. His parents aren't too happy with his decision to be baptized but he knows that the right way is never the easy way.
That was pretty much the Highlight of the week and all we've been thinking about honestly. New years was fun. Six of missionaries went over to the Schwartz for breakfast, who is the stake president and used to be the mission president here. We played soccer with Falko and the elders after his baptismal Interview. I got getunnelt (nutmegged) so many times, but it's okay, only a little bit embarrassing.... later that night we had dinner with a couple from Nürnberg. We had Raclette, which is a tradition here. It's really hard to describe so please look it up. It was so much fun and very good, we ate a lot haha.
This week we also had to get our booster of the covid vaccine. For those of you who don't know, I don't like shots at all. So I was not excited. The nurse offered to hold my hand because she could tell I was a bit nervous about it. I was surprised that I wasn't more dead because of the booster. But I only felt a bit weak and a headache, but that only lasted for about an hour. It was fun getting to see other missionaries. I got to meet the infamous elder Nørrung who is from denmark. I've heard so much about him and was excited to meet him. He was pretty excited that I myself was danish. It was fun being able to connect over our heritage.
Lately we've been trying to talk to about everyone that we pass on the street. It's scary and we get rejected a lot but I feel happy doing it surprisingly. It just comes to show that there's always joy found when you put the lord first and do his work. I love and miss you all so much. But there truly is no where else I'd rather be than here in Germany being a missionary. I hope you all had a great week and happy 2022!!
