Hello Korn

The mission is a very bitter sweet experience. The week started out great with a mission conference and being able to see Elder Uchtdorf. All the missionaries in my mission got up early and headed to Frankfurt. It was so fun to see everyone and everyone couldn't wait to see Elder Uchtdorf. We were all lined up to take a picture with him when he showed up. When he pulled up and I saw him there was just such a sweet feeling that came over me. He truly just has a light about him. Sadly we couldn't shake his hand and meet him personally, but I was still so glad to be in his presence. The whole conference was really special and he spoke in German! I went full gift of tongues mode and hoped for the best. I'm surprised by how much I understood. We also had a Covid scare this week. One of our friends that were teaching texted us and told us she tested positive for covid. Sister Olsen and I both had headaches but we didn't know if it was from covid or because we have to wake u...

We perished

For Easter, both Sister Olsen and I spoke in sacrament meeting. We were pretty nervous because there was a a lot of faces that we didn't recognize. Our friend David who we're teaching also came. But it went well. A member came up to me after and asked if I was nervous, I guess my voice was shaking a bit hahah. David said he really liked our sacrament meeting and he said he just felt good. He's coming again this Sunday and I hope we can set up an actual lesson so we can talk about what he felt and what it meant.  That night we had dinner with Bernd, our eternegator. He's been investigating the church for 5 years. Our plan going in was to set expectations with him and reinforce our purpose as missionaries because usually when we meet with him we usually have dinner for about 4 hours and then a short lesson about baptism. He's a super good cook and always makes the best food. We always go home stuffed and unable to eat for a week. But we wanted to make our point clea...

And it feels like Summer

Happy Easter week family!! I love Easter!! It's one of my favorite holidays! They celebrate Easter here by hanging easter eggs on their trees, which is pretty fun. In my studies I have been trying to follow Christ's last week. It's been pretty cool and has been making the week more personal. I've been reading in Jesus the Christ as well as the New Testament. I've also been asked to speak this Sunday in church and so I've been studying for that as well. I think the focus of my talk will be on Christ's Atonement as well as how grateful I am for his resurrection. I'll include my grandparents deaths but how I still know that they are with me because of Christ's Atonement. I hope I'm able to bring the spirit and it will help the ward. We're also having a friend come to church, his name is David. We're excited for that and this will be his first time coming to church so I hope my talk will be good. This week we had interviews with President w...

Conference and 6 months

Servus!! Man I can't believe that I hit 6 months this past week. The time has gone so fast. I thought that when I hit this Mark that I would be able to speak German well and know what I was doing. That has definitely not been the case, my German has improved a lot and I'm able to talk to people now, but I still don't have a handle on everything. I have still so much to learn and I'm excited for how much more I will grow in the next year! This week we had a great lesson with Alazar and his friend Joseph. We showed up and the first question that Jospeh asked Was how can I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the book of Mormon is true? Him and Alazar read the introduction together and had discussed it. We had a good discussion and helped answer their questions. Alazar wasn't really that interested because he couldn't accept the Book of Mormon over the Bible. It was frustrating and I didn't know how someone who loves God so much could have such a...
