Hello Korn

The mission is a very bitter sweet experience. The week started out great with a mission conference and being able to see Elder Uchtdorf. All the missionaries in my mission got up early and headed to Frankfurt. It was so fun to see everyone and everyone couldn't wait to see Elder Uchtdorf. We were all lined up to take a picture with him when he showed up. When he pulled up and I saw him there was just such a sweet feeling that came over me. He truly just has a light about him. Sadly we couldn't shake his hand and meet him personally, but I was still so glad to be in his presence. The whole conference was really special and he spoke in German! I went full gift of tongues mode and hoped for the best. I'm surprised by how much I understood.

We also had a Covid scare this week. One of our friends that were teaching texted us and told us she tested positive for covid. Sister Olsen and I both had headaches but we didn't know if it was from covid or because we have to wake up super early. Luckily we were negative and didn't have any symptoms after that.
We got transfer calls this week and I have been transferred to Köln (Cologne in English). I can't pronounce it correctly so we just call it Korn haha. Hopefully one day I will be able to produce the City I live in. It was really sad to have to say goodbye to everyone in Nürnberg. It became my home and I will miss the people there. It breaks my heart to know that I won't see these people for a long time, if not at all. The hardest person to leave was Sister Olsen. We became such good friends and had a tone of fun together. We shed a lot of tears in the lead up to me leaving. In Köln I am second training Sister Maughan. I hope we'll be able to get along as fast as Sister Olsen and I did. All of the new missionaries and their original trainers were split up this transfer which is pretty crazy
Köln has been good so far. It's the biggest city in the mission and I've always been a small town kinda girl. Maybe it'll start to grow on me. There's a lot of work to do here which will be good and keep me busy. I have a crazy story from this week that strengthened my testimony that God takes care of his missionaries. It starts on transfer day: I was supposed to leave at 11 to head up to Köln. Something came up and I couldn't leave until later. Pretty much everything that could've went wrong did. I missed so many trains and there were tons that were delayed. After a long delay I finally got on a train. I put my stuff down and realized that it was going the wrong direction. I had to quickly get off at the next stop in a town called Erlangen. There are elders here and I knew that they'd be able to help me if worse came to worse. There was a 30 minute wait until the next train came to take me back to Nürnberg. During this time I was a little worried. I had all of my stuff, no Sim card so I couldn't call anyone or find out when the next train was coming. But I said a prayer and just asked for strength and comfort. I remembered my dad's mission stories and knew that God will take care of me. I got on the train back to Nürnberg and prayed that the elders would get a feeling to go back to the train station. I got off and tried to figure out what to do and where to go next. I look up and a sister comes up to me and asks if I need help. Then I meet up with Sister Brown who also missed her train. We were able to find out that we were both taking the same train! That was a little miracle to me that I'd be able to travel either Sister Brown and not myself for 4 hours. We got on the train and was so thankfully for that little tender mercy. Long story shirt, I made it to Köln at 8 o'clock at night and got to meet a really nice Muslim family on the way. There are no coincidences in the lord and he takes care of his missionaries!!
That's it for this week! Love you all!!
