They just wakanda-ed us

 Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

I hope you all are eating Mexican food to celebrate because we sure did. I was told that there wasn't going to be any Mexican Restaurants in Germany but there are a ton in Köln. So that's how we celebrated.
This week felt like it was 2 years long. I am exhausted, but I'm hoping that this next week will go smoother. We were pretty busy which I don't know if that's the reason why I'm so tired. As a mission we have a challenge to speak only German from 9-9 and my brain is dead after one week. I didn't realize how much out of you it takes to speak a new language all the time. We had a good amount of lessons set up and we had to travel to Frankfurt to get Sister Maughan's Ausweis. The trains were really bad and were delayed by 2 hours. We got to Bahnhof pretty late, but I had a nice surprised of being able to see Sister Olsen again! It's crazy how much I have missed her in just a short time. On our way back we took the long way and passed through this gorgeous little town. It was right along the Rhein river and it had green, rolling hills and pastures. It was a typical German town and had a tons of old castles. I just sat and looked out the window the whole time. It reminded me how pretty Germany is.
I've been officially in Köln for 1 week and it feels like a whole month. It's a very big city, which includes having lots of people and pretty dirty. It's not my favorite place in the World, but our goal this week is to find the beauty here in the small things. We met a young girl from the Pentacost church? I have no idea how to spell it, but she was super nice and I was super surprised how similar our beliefs are. Another cool experience is that we were able to help out a member who's been living on the streets for a couple days. She's gone through a lot and has felt that God has forgotten her. We went and visited with her and the elders. The elders gave her and blessing and it was a powerful experience. She said she felt God by her again and will be coming to church this Sunday. We're still trying to help her find a place to live but we're glad she's not a heap of despair anymore.
Two funny stories from this week, the first is that every Saturday we played Basketball with the ward and investigators. Sister Maughan is 5'11-6'0 so natürlich she's good at Basketball. Most of the people we play don't know how to play Basketball so it's kind of funny to watch them. Towards the end Sister Maughan and I played against 4 guys who were there. We beat them but it was really fun. I went to set a screen on one of the elders and he says "they just wakanda-ed us." Haha he doesn't know what a Screen is. The next one is that we were at the super market and we were in the frozen section. This old Lady comes up to me and asks me something. I didn't understand her very well. She looks at me and says you're not German are you. I laugh and say im not and goes to ask someone else. Come to find out she wanted to know where the frozen French fries were. That was a sad moment for my German haha.
Have a nice week!!
