Frohe Weihnachten

Image
Hey all! Sorry I missed last week, but hopefully I can catch you up on everything that has happened. So just a faur warning, this one might be long.  Christmas was a true blessing. The German's celebrate 3 days of Christmas and the 24th is their big celebration. A big group of missionaries decided that we wanted to go into the city and carol. I loved being able to see people light up and smile as we started singing. Music has a powerful effect on people and it meant everything to see the effect first hand.  We had dinner with a couple from Spain and had a whole bunch of interesting foods haha. They even served us a whole lamb's leg! They invited a friend who lives by herself and it was fun being able to get to know her and her all of her flying adventures when she was younger. She's seen and experienced a ton! We ended the night singing Christmas carols and watching her become more comfortable with us. The special thing was when she left, she stood on the doorstep and w...

Guten Abend!! This week has been full of miracles! We've tried out a few new approaches, but none of them have been working. During my personal study, I prayed to find an approach that will catch the attention of the people we talk to on the street and to let them realize that what we have will help their lives so much. I opened up preach my gospel and the first page that I turned to had the section "Addressing the Importance of the Family." There's a promise that says, "Addressing the importance of the family with those you meet each day will help you find people to teach." I was pretty positive that this was my answer. That day we went contacting with the elders in an area where it's really hard to find people. I also didn't know beforehand, but Sister Cooley got a prompting that there were 2 people that the spirit wanted her to talk to. Those 2 people were young mothers with their kids, which went perfectly with my prompting. The second woman th...

Christmas time in the City!

There's not a whole lot to report on from this week. Tbh this week has been pretty overwhelming and has hit me like a train. The winter time is here which means that there's no sun. A member in Köln would always call me a desert flower. So I think it's safe to say that I need the sun! Going without the sun also leads to unpleasant symptoms. I've noticed that I have less energy, I'm tired all the time, and everything just seems heavier. I will be really glad to come back to Nevada where the sun never leaves, but until then I'll be sure to take my vitamin D, listen to Christmas music, eat chocolate, and get lots of hugs!  Although, it was a rough weak and just a lot. I learned a lot about the Savior's grace and Atonement. He already paid the price for my mistakes or my slow days. He knew I would mess up and this time would be hard for me, which is why he allows it to happen. There's no growth if I'm not forced beyond my limits and there's no reas...

Faith, trust, and pixie dust

Yo yo it's lunch time!!  I miss high school musical haha. Transfer news cane in and sister cooley and i are staying together in friedrichsdorf!! I'm so excited and am ready to see a lot of miracles happen in this area. I also found out that i am a grandma of 2 new greenies (the 2 people i trained are now also training someone else). I guess i officially count as old on the mission haha.  This week has taught me a lot about faith and following the spirit. Finding new people to teach has been kind of a struggle. I just want to find people and be able to share my testimony with them. We've had some great conversations on the street, but the people usually don't want to meet up again or have any interest. It's hard for me to see the wheels turning in their head and truly listening to what we have to say, but then thinking it's enough. But I've come to realize that the lord puts those people into my path for a reason, they needed to hear about the gospel. Maybe...

Letter from last week!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I'm so grateful for you all. No one celebrates Thanksgiving in Germany which is really sad. So we had a district feast where everyone brought something. It was so fun and the food was so yummy. I'm looking forward to your pumpkin pie mom since pumpkin anything is not a thing here. Also I've been working on my half court shots so that next year I'll be able to win the shot competition ;) This week was simply bliss. Asier got baptized and it was so special. He was so happy and his mom and his brother came too. They both shared their testimonies and it was so tender. It just melted my heart to see how happy they were for Asier. We've now been trying to get Asier ready to receive the priesthood and then a temple recommend which he's really excited about.  We went out street contacting with this older member who's from Hungary and absolutely loves missionary work. It is so fun to contact with her! She made it so easy and we ended u...
