 Guten Abend!!

This week has been full of miracles! We've tried out a few new approaches, but none of them have been working. During my personal study, I prayed to find an approach that will catch the attention of the people we talk to on the street and to let them realize that what we have will help their lives so much. I opened up preach my gospel and the first page that I turned to had the section "Addressing the Importance of the Family." There's a promise that says, "Addressing the importance of the family with those you meet each day will help you find people to teach." I was pretty positive that this was my answer. That day we went contacting with the elders in an area where it's really hard to find people. I also didn't know beforehand, but Sister Cooley got a prompting that there were 2 people that the spirit wanted her to talk to. Those 2 people were young mothers with their kids, which went perfectly with my prompting. The second woman that we talked to got a phone call right before we approached her, so we waited patiently on the side of the road until we could approach her. We had a really good conversation. She used to be a Jehovah's Witness, but didn't like how they treated the family unit. We were able to explain how important the family is in our church. She also quoted the scripture in Ephesians where there is "one God, one faith, and baptism." She is golden in my opinion. Before we could exchange contact information her bus pulled up, but she yelled her address and told us to come visit her. We have the valid address and plan on making the trek back up there soon. Please pray that we will meet up with her again!
We also got a self referral from the temple and he wants us to visit him and bring a brochure about the temple by. We set up an appointment, but legit the day before he found out that he has to go to rehab. Satan is good at his job because there is always opposition. We're staying in contact and I'm pretty sure that we will meet up with him sometime. We've gotten a few numbers this past week and we're excited to meet up with all of them.
It's been absolutely freezing (-6 degrees celsius, if someone wants to do the math). I have been bundled up like a snowman and still the humidity seeps through every piece of clothing that I wear. It snowed this past week, but even that was a disappointment. The snow here is very icy and doesn't stay for very long.
We've had some awesome member appointments and I can confidently say that we have a very good relationship with all of the members here. They are so amazing and even brought me soup since I've been a little bit sick. They all have a special place in my heart. They threw a surprise party for a sister who goes home soon and served in the area that I was on Austausch with. If that doesn't explain how amazing they are, I don't know what will.
ASIER UPDATE!! I'm so proud of this kid. He received the Aaronic priesthood this past Sunday and also received his temple recommend!! We are so happy for him and can't wait to go to the temple with him. He's also getting asked by the other members to become friends with their kids who are on the fence and bring them back to church. He is just so great!! His little brother also mentioned how he wanted to be baptized and we can't be more happy!

  This week was a little bit of a Rollercoaster. I had to give my farewell talk in the branch due to the fact that we have stake conference, fast and testimony meeting, and general conference. I shared the spiritual defining moments from my mission. If you want the talk I will be happy to send it to you. It was a great opportunity for me to look back on my mission and remember the great experiences that I have had.  We had a great lesson with Ali, he is making so much progress. He knows a lot about Christianity and just soaks everything up. My German grandpa is the one that helps bring him to church and lessons and he always brings so much food for us to eat. This week he made us chocolate milk, cake, and Brötchen with cheese. He also wants Ali to be baptized as soon as possible so that I can be here. Apparently I'm Ms. Darbus

  There's not a whole lot to report from this last week. The past few days I was sick and not feeling very well so we tried to keep low for a while. We met with a member and he bought us ice cream. I got through about 5 bites and couldn't eat anymore. He looked at me in the nicest way possible and told me that I looked dumbfounded, bored, and sick. It was quite the roast, but he's super precious so it was okay.  Ali is progressing really well. All of the ward members love him and are always eager to help. He started smoking again recently due to all the stress that he's been dealing with. Our member who picks him up from church taught him about the word of wisdom in his limited English. He decided then that he was going to stop smoking. He prayed that night to have the strength to stop smoking. The next morning he couldn't find his pack of cigarettes. He took it as a sign that he needed to stop smoking and that god answered his prayer. He hasn't smoked since the...

Wunder Zeit

  This was a quick week so I'm not sure if I'll have a lot to report, buttt! We still had so many miracles.  Ali, who we found a couple weeks ago on the street came to church for the first time this week. I was a bit nervous, because he doesn't speak German and no one in the ward speaks Persian. The ward was so good with him and just welcomed him with open arms. During elders Quorum, they translated the talk into Persian so that he could read along. The lesson ended a bit early and so they had him tell his story. Ali used Google translate and told them about his sad past leaving Iran and Ukraine. He explained how we met and knew that if he would've been on a different side of the street, that we never would've met him. He knows that God led him to us. He texted us after and told us that it was the best day of his life. He loved church and had a feeling that he already knew all of the people there.
