Letter from last week!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I'm so grateful for you all. No one celebrates Thanksgiving in Germany which is really sad. So we had a district feast where everyone brought something. It was so fun and the food was so yummy. I'm looking forward to your pumpkin pie mom since pumpkin anything is not a thing here. Also I've been working on my half court shots so that next year I'll be able to win the shot competition ;)
This week was simply bliss. Asier got baptized and it was so special. He was so happy and his mom and his brother came too. They both shared their testimonies and it was so tender. It just melted my heart to see how happy they were for Asier. We've now been trying to get Asier ready to receive the priesthood and then a temple recommend which he's really excited about.
We went out street contacting with this older member who's from Hungary and absolutely loves missionary work. It is so fun to contact with her! She made it so easy and we ended up having a lot of good conversations. The German people have some of the sweetest stories. One man we talked to started tearing up when he started mentioning his family and how important they are to him.
The highlight of the week was we helped the bishop with a service project. They're building a house and it flooded due to all the rain that we've been receiving. It was so fun! They used big shower squeegees (no idea how to spell it) in order to move the water into a Bucket in the floor which was pumpen out into the street. It was a lot more convenient than using Towels to mom it all up. But it reminded me a lot of home and it was a fun time. We then had a Picnic in their dark basement all together. I felt like Homer from October sky when he's working in the mines haha.
We went and visited Sister Flade again on her birthday with her ministering sister. It was a really nice time and we had a good conversation getting to know each other a little bit better. Everytime we've gone over there I'm always so surprised how nice she is. I think her and the member really got along which I loved to see. I was able to show her the picture of her husband as a senior in high school that dad sent me. She loved it and had me send it to her haha. We couldn't leave without taking some of her birthday cake:). It's apparent to me that I have a really special connection to this family since her husband grew up in Elko. It makes me wonder if I was called to this area for them. Transfers are this week and I'm really hoping I stay because my goal is to see their family come back to church before I go home.
It was a great week and I loved every second of it. God is so good and he rewards us for every effort we put in. The members have been our focus this past week and I know that the lord will bless us with more people to teach because we're caring about bringing his elect back to him as well. I love you all so much and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
