Member work!!
Hey ya'll!
We have worked a ton with the members with this past week. The members here are so nice and just amazing! There's one family from Uganda who's inactive because the mom works the evening shift and can't make it to church to take the kids. The husband also isn't a member, he's atheist. So we try to work a lot with their family. We made homemade sushi with them and lowkey it was pretty good. I'm usually picky about my sushi but it wasn't bad. At the end, the father asked if we could say a prayer and told us that when we come back he wants us to stay longer. That's a success in my book if I've ever seen one!
There's a ward temple trip coming up and we're trying to get a lot of members, especially the new members to go. We know it would be a great opportunity for them. One new member that we work a lot with is having his temple interview soon and we're so excited to go with his and experience the joy of temple work with him.
On Sunday, we were in charge of teaching the primary kids about baptism. Let me tell you, it was a time. We had kids falling out of their chairs or hitting each other. We had 2 kids who listened to us. They are best friends and Benet is baptized but Aaron isn't. During the lesson, they kept talking about Benet's baptism and how special it was for both of them. Aaron kept saying how he wanted to be baptized, but was confused why he wasn't. We know there are some difficulties in his family and that both parents might not approve of his baptism. We got a message this morning from our branch president and he told us that he talked to Aaron's mother just to ask about the situation and Aaron will now be baptized on February 19th! We are so excited for him and that we have the opportunity to teach and help him.
We had interviews and they were honestly very helpful. I've learned how much trust President has in me. Euskirchen is one of the hardest in our mission right now. Going in I didn't know that, I knew it was small and that it was going to be challenging but every area has its struggles so I didn't think anything of it. President Hammon actually started this area when he was a missionary here. He cares a lot about Euskirchen and I'm honored to serve in this area. I asked him if I could die in an area that would be tougher than most and I got my wish. But he has full faith in sister Werner and I that we will give it our best here. I explained my worries and fears about returning home and he told me that it is just another transfer. That I'm plateauing on the mission so I need a new adventure and a new challenge.
We've visited lots of members and are trying to strengthen our relationship with them. They are all so sweet and I know that I will enjoy my time here. There is so much potential here and I'm excited to dig deep and find all of the secret mines that are hidden here. The mission is so enjoyable and I love it with all of my heart. I love seeing the change in myself and how my priorities have changed. I love this gospel and that I'm able to serve others. Love you all and have a great week!!
